LNER Future Labs are scaling the next generation of rail travel

skignz is working with LNER to understand how it's 'PLAR' can enhance the 'Station of the Future'

Facilitated by Co:cubed, skignz were invited to present to a wide selection of the  LNER team with a view to being shortlisted to work with them to deliver a POC in a 10 week programme. skignz are delighted to have been selected as one of 5 companies for the LNER Future Labs Programme.

The 5 selected companies were announced on Thursday 28th May 2020 through this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMs0euA0HmE&feature=youtu.be

This programme is believed to be the first fully virtual accelerator programme in the travel sector. Certainly a first for the rail/train sector. A LNER spokesperson said: "This programme is believed to be the first fully virtual accelerator programme in the travel sector. Certainly a first for the rail/train sector. LNER state that “The ever-changing landscape in station technology and services means LNER need to be forward-thinking in what the experience for passengers and their station employees could look like in the near future. What disruptive models, consumer services and technologies can they explore implementing within their station environment when designing the ‘Station of the Future’?”

skignz Founder & CEO Si Brown said: “We are very proud to have been elected from a very impressive international field of companies to this programme and thank Co:cubed and LNER for recognising the potential that Precise Location AR can play in the ‘Station of the Future’, furthermore how this links into travellers total journey.

In addition with the effects of the current global pandemic (Covid-19), many if not all major brands have had to apply the brakes to their marketing and innovation strategies, so for LNER to be accelerating their approach to innovation we find it very refreshing especially as the ‘new normal’ is proving to be a very different world than 2019 was…”

We will provide updates on our usual social media channels over the length of the 10-week programme and look forward to showcasing how skignz can be of use during these uncertain and changing times.
